High Schools and Middle Schools

Social studies, government and history teachers are a perfect fit for a visit from C-SPAN's Civics Bus. During our visits to schools, teachers will have the opportunity to participate in a 30-60 minute workshops about C-SPAN Classroom. Utilized by thousands of teachers nationwide, C-SPAN Classroom web site offers a vast library of short downloadable video clips tied to national and state teaching standards with discussion questions and related links. With its liberal copyright policy and the network's vast video archives, educators nationwide can easily access relevant primary source content to support the social studies topics they teach through C-SPAN Classroom at absolutely no cost!

Schools coordinating and participating in a teacher workshop will also have the opportunity for their students to visit the Bus. While on board, students learn about the importance of media literacy and critical viewing skills. These tours have been especially effective with TV production, journalism or communications students. Middle and high school visits also provide opportunities to conduct special teacher workshops regarding C-SPAN Classroom and Cable in the Classroom.
