C-SPAN 25TH ANNIVERSARY STORY WINNERS

Herb Silverman
Charleston, South Carolina
Cable Company: Comcast

C-SPAN saved my marriage! Well, not quite. But my wife and I now communicate much better, and not only because we enjoy discussing issues raised on C-SPAN. The biggest recurring argument my wife and I used to have was about what to call her. She wanted me either to use her name or some mutually agreed-upon nickname. Sparse with words, I saw no need when we were alone to preface my remarks to her with any label. While watching C-SPAN together one Friday morning about five years ago, she mentioned that even Brian appropriately identifies his callers. At that moment, my wife and I looked at each other and knew that our “problem” had been resolved. My lovely wife (Charleston, South Carolina) and I thank you for helping us to find the perfect nickname for her.

P.S. Charleston’s nickname for me is the last four digits of my social security number (but she calls me “3” for short).
