C-SPAN 25TH ANNIVERSARY STORY WINNERS

WATCH"MY STORY" ON WASHINGTON JOURNAL
3/04/04: WASHINGTON, DC

I arrived in NY City on January 20, 1974, as a newlywed bride from Bombay, India, to join my husband, a graduate student, at Columbia University.

My initial foray into television was to watch five daily reruns of "I Love Lucy." Thirty years later, I have matured as an individual. C-SPAN has completely changed my life!

I have watched and taped C-SPAN for several decades. My basement is a monument to my C-SPAN library, much to the chagrin of my two grown sons! Initially, I would be bursting at the gut to get on C-SPAN's Washington Journal every thirty days. Now, I nurse my opportunities, and wait for the perfect guest (foil) for my rancor du jour. Today, I usually prefer to send in 2-to-3 emails daily, as they give me the grist for a book I am writing.

In 1995, thanks to C-SPAN, I submitted an entry for the White House Fellowship Program. It was rejected.

In 2001, I wrote a petition: www.PetitionOnline.com/nariman/petition.html

This and other on-line commentary led to my being invited to write for a new on-line publication: www.yellowtimes.org. (my archives: www.yellowtimes.org/search.php? query=&topic=36)

In 2001, I submitted two dissertations for maintaining the defined benefit structure, and against the partial privatization of Social Security to the President's Commission to Strengthen Social Security, which were read by the 16-member board. In 2002, I was the democrat candidate for congress in NY's 26th. District. The Rochester City News endorsed me:

I plan to run in the 2004 elections. (www.narimanforcongress.com)
